Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation

Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation has been around for a long time. Back in Indonesia I bumped into this foundie lots of time at Revlon counters but I never got around to trying it. Now that I've moved, I browsed about make up more often and I thought I need to try this at least once. Talk about bad timing. In Netherlands it's difficult to find Revlon products in person (there are several online drugstores where it's available), I only knew one drugstore in my city that offered Revlon, and now that store's closed already. It's really annoying to have to guess your shade through the internet but in the end I picked a shade and crossed my fingers ;)

Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation came in a clear glass bottle with black plastic cap. As many have mentioned, it doesn't come with a pump, for reasons I don't get. Because of the thickness of the texture, it's possible to control the amount of product but still not as convenient as with a pump.

At Revlon's US website, this foundation offered as many as 20 shades, but your local counters might only offer limited shades. Here in Holland I only found around 7-10 shades and none matched me. After searching for swatches and comparisons I decided to go for the shade 300 Golden Beige, bought through ebay, shipped from Germany +_+ I thought to myself "if this shade doesn't match, what would I do??" but thankfully it did match me perfectly.  The numbering of the shades were a bit difficult to understand because there are ones started with 1, 2 and 3. My guess was 1 were the ones with pink undertone, 2 with neutral undertone, leaning yellow, and 3 with yellow undertone. I'm not completely sure about this, though. For reference, I wear shade NC30 to 35 in MAC foundations.

The foundation has a powdery floral scent which lasted for quite a while (even after it's on the face). I don't find it very bothersome but ladies with sensitive nose might be. The texture is on the thick side, dries down quite quickly. I thought this will make me have to work in small areas, but when I apply it with my beautyblender (which always have to be used damp) I didn't encounter any issue with application.

Coverage was very good. I applied one coat and it's already an almost full coverage. I tried displaying it through the pictures below. Bare face alert. 

On the left is my bare skin with a layer of sunscreen. Zoomed in it looks a little pink because of the redness and acne scar :P but my skin's undertone is definitely yellow. With one coat it already covers very nicely, very deep redness or active acne might need extra coverage but it won't be very noticeable. It has a matte finish and lightweight feeling, on my oily skin I found it that it held up really well throughout the day. I'd say the staying power is comparable to my HG Mat Velvet+.

I was really happy with the coverage and staying power but unfortunately this foundation disappoints in  flash photography. With flash, the white cast is visible which I think is due to the SPF 15.

Still, even with the white cast and without the pump, I still like this foundation. The coverage and staying power is great but I might not wear it on occasions I know I'd take lots of pictures (with flash). In my collection, Colorstay is the opposite of Urban Decay Naked :) I hope this helps <3
